Landslide shuts Srinagar-Jammu highway

Dry weather till March 4: MeT

SRINAGAR: The Metrological centre on Saturday said that the whether will remain dry from 1 March to 4 March.

However the rains lashed the Kashmir valley from morning 28 and 29 February morning.

Director of Metrological centre Srinagar, Sonum Lotus told the Kashmir reader that there will significant improvement weather from today.

“However the weather will remain dry from March 1- 4 March. The temperature will be gradual rise also,” He said

According to weather official, Srinagar’s day temperature was 9.8 degree Celsius while the night temperature was 4.5 degree. At Qazigund the recorded day temperature was 7.8 while night temp was 4.5 degree Celsius.

“Pahalgam Maximum temperature was 8.6 degree and
Minimum temperature was 1.8; Kupwara’s Max temp was 8.1 while Minimum temperature was 3.5 degree, Kokernag’s maximum temperature 7.6
and min temperature was 3.6, Gulmarg min temperature was minus 1.6 degree,” the official added.

An official from the traffic control Room Ramban and Jammu said due to the landslide in the Srinagar- Jammu Highway at Cafteria Ramban and Ramsu the traffic movement has been stopped upon the highway.

“The men and machines are doing the work to clear the landslide in the Cafteria area, the landslide in the Ramsu has been cleared, if the work will be completed only strandered vehicles from Jammu- Srinagar will be allowed to ply upon the highway,” He said.
