Makhama residents protest against power department for not restoring electricity

SRINAGAR: The residents of village Makhuma from Tehsil Beerwah of Central Kashmiri’s Budgam district on Monday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to restoration the electricity in the area. Scores of protesters from village Bun Makhuma from Budgam district assembled here at press enclave seeking restoration of electricity in the area. The protesters said that they are without electricity from last four months and they have approached all the concerned higher official regarding this issue, but nothing has been done to redress their grievance. Naseer Ahmad Bhat, one of the local resident from Bun Makhuma Mohllah New colony from Budgam said the electricity has been snapped the area since November 4. “As we have got proper orders from the Chief Engineer of PDD, Deputy Commissioner Budgam and Divisional commissioner Kashmir for early restoration of electricity, but these are not implemented upon the ground,” he said. “On daily basis we have to spend lot of money to buy the candles as there is no alternative for us. The students have been worst affected as they are not able to study in the evening,” said another protesters. They also requested the Lt Governor to look into the matter for the restoration of the electricity on immediate basis.
