BARAMULLA: Police on Friday said it has arrested a man for spreading rumours on social media sites.
Official said that they had received several complaints about that person is spreading fake news and other rumours on social media sites in Handwara from past several days.
“On the bases of complaints, Handwara police started its investigation and registered a case FIR number 25/20 under section 153-153A/505 IPC at police station Handwara and arrested an individual Waseem Majeed Dar a resident of Waskura Handwara,” an official said.
Police appealed to people not to pay any attention towards fake news or other rumours on social media sites.
