ICDS employees stage protest over pending honorarium

SRINAGAR: Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department helpers on Thursday held a protest in Srinagar demanding release of pending honorarium. The protestors from various district of Kashmir Valley assembled here in press enclave and chanted slogans. They said that they are working in the ICDS department from last 15 years on the post of the helpers to supervisors posts. Mahjabeen Bano, an employee from Srinagar said they are nearly 700 employees in Jammu and Kashmir working in the ICDS department on helpers and supervisor posts. “From last two years the department has not released our honorarium as we have already approached the concerned officials of the ICDS department and District Program officers regarding this issue, but it is unfortunate that nobody is paying heed towards our demand,’’ she said. “The most of the women’s is fully dependent upon this honorarium as they are unable to fulfill their basic needs. Some of the women’s are not able to buy the medicines as they did not have received any honorarium from the department,” Said another protesting women, Gulshan Bano. The Protesting women’s requested the Lt. Governor and Mission Director of the ICDS department to look into this matter and release of their pending honorarium
