ACB arrests GDA accountant while accepting bribe

BARAMULLA: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team on Saturday arrested an Accounts Officer Gulmarg Development Peer Nazir Ahmed for accepting a bribe of Rs. 5000 from a complainant for clearing his pending bills at the office.
The ACB trap team was constituted at office of Gulmarg Development Authority located at Tangmarg in Baramulla District. The team so constituted laid a successful trap and the accused arrested and taken into custody.
The Bureau had received a written complaint from General Manager, M/s Choudhary Motors, where in it was alleged in the complaint that Nazir Ahmed, Accounts officer, Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) is demanding bribe for release of long pending bills regarding repairs of official vehicles belonging to GDA.
The complainant in his complaint has alleged that M/s Choudhary Motors approached GDA for clearing bills of repair of the official vehicles. The bills were accordingly submitted for release of payments by Chowdhary Motors. The Accused Accounts Officer was not releasing the payments on one pretext or the other despite repeated requests from the complainant. It was also alleged that the accused is demanding the bribe for settlement of the bills.
On receipt of complaint, Case FIR No. 01/2020 Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau , Baramulla under section 7(a) P.C Act 1988 was registered against the accused public servant namely, Nazir Ahmad, Accounts Officer Gulmarg Development Authority. Further investigation into the case is going on.
