Kupwara boy beaten to death by colleagues in Rajasthan

KUPWARA: A 17-year-old Kupwara boy was allegedly beaten to death by his colleague in Rajasthan, police said on Friday.
Basit, a resident Kupwara, was allegedly thrashed by his fellow worker Aditya (22) in Harmara area on Wednesday night after the two had an argument, they said.
Sources said that Basit Ahmad Khan, 17, son of Khursheed Ahmad Khan a resident of Kunanposhpora village of frontier Kupwara district was working in a private company in Rajasthan from past few months. They said that on Tuesday Basit and his other Mumbai based colleagues fight with eachother over some issue, resulting Basit receiving grave injuries on his head and was shifted to a local hospital in Rajasthan, where he was admitted for next two day.
“On Thursday night around 9 pm,Basit succumbed his injuries in the local hospital,” they added.
A Kashmiri who was very close to Basit said that at least four youth – who were also working with Basit– beat him up and injured him inwhich he received grave injuries on his head. He said that on Friday, some of his relatives who are also working in different areas in Rajasthan received his body and registered a case against killers in a local police station.
As the news of death of Khan reached his native place at Kunanposhpora, scores of villagers took to the streets and staged a protest against the killers.
Naseer Ahmad a relative of the deceased youth said that Basit was son of a former Indian army soldier and his father passed away in 2012. He said after the death of his father, Basit took family responsibilities and was working as a waiter in a private company.
“Culprits should be booked under law,” he said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara, A S Dinkar said that incident happened two days ago when a boy was beaten and injured by his colleagues in Rajasthan and Rajasthan police has shifted the injured youth to hospital where he was given full medical treatment, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries.
He said the main accused was arrested and two other people are too in police custody for questioning.
He refused that deceased was a student and was killed because he was a Kashmiri.
“It was brawl between the two caterers inwhich one lost his life and the police in Rajasthan already registered a case and further investigation is going on after one main accused was arrested. Kupwara police was in touch with Rajasthan police from the first day and we are monitoring the case,” Dinkar said.
