Shopian: A bank guard was killed on Friday in an accidental fire at Kaprin village of south Kashmir’s Shopian. The incident occurred at Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s Kaprin Branch Shopian.
The slain was identified as Majid Ahmad Naikoo, a resident of Dangam village of Shopian.
A police official said that the incident took place on Friday afternoon when rifle of a security guard stationed at the Bank’s ATM accidentally went off. The fire hit the guard resulting in his injury.
Soon after, he was removed to a hospital for treatment where he was declared brought dead.
Station House officer Shopian, Mudasir Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that a case has been filed and investigation has been started.
“The bullet according to doctors had hit the leg of guard but he lost blood resulting in his death,” he said adding that police has started investigating to know the real cause of death.
