Weather to remain dry till Feb 10: MeT

Srinagar: The meteorological department on Monday said that the weather will continue to remain dry in Kashmir till February 10.
“Weather will remain dry for next seven days in Jammu and Kashmir. However, there may be light snowfall in isolated hilly areas of the region on Tuesday,” said Deputy Director Met Department Mukhtar Ahmad.
He said that complete dry weather was expected this week while weather may change gradually from February 10.
“I can’t share the weather prediction for next week. We will issue detailed forecast after some days,” Ahmad said.
According to Ahmad, temperature will also see little dip during morning and evening hours. However, he said there was no weather warning.
Weather remained dry and there was significant improvement in day temperatures since last week. Last month saw multiple snow spells resulting in unabated cold in the region.
This also resulted in smooth functioning of Srinagar-Jammu highway, which frequently gets closed due to slight rains and snow.
On Monday, the highway was through for traffic for vehicles from Jammu to Srinagar.
Today, according to a traffic police official, vehicles including LMVs and HMVs would be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Jammu today.
