Coronavirus: Govt preparing list of students studying in China to facilitate their safe return

Srinagar: The government has asked the police and health officials to prepare a list of students who are pursuing their studies in China so that they can be evacuated safely and screened for Coronavirus on arrival.
According to sources, Chief Secretary BVR Subramaniam has directed the officials to constitute a surveillance team in every district for identification and preparation of list of the students studying in China.
“The teams will have to keep track of students from China to facilitate their safe return,” they said.
The surveillance teams have also been directed to screening every student coming from abroad especially China on return to their home so that there is no spreading of Coronovirus.
A senior health official told Kashmir Reader that the surveillance teams will be headed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the district while government medical college principals will be the Nodal Officer and Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) as the members.
“The police department and panchayat officials have been asked to get in touch with the family members of the students so that they can be located and contacted for their safe return,” he said.
As reported by Kashmir Reader, the health department was caught napping after a Kashmiri student from China had walked out of the Srinagar Airport without screening for Coronavirus.
