Traffic jams reduce in city centre after roadside ban on parking

SRINAGAR: With High Court passing directions to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to ban roadside parking in Srinagar, the traffic police department has started taking strict actions against the violators resulting in less
traffic jams.
The city has witnessed decline in massive traffic especially in commercial hub Lal chowk and many other places of the city after the court orders.
Roadside parking had been leading to massive traffic jams in many places of the city including Lal Chowk, Dalgate, Jahangeer Chowk, Polo view, Ghanta Ghar, Amira Kadal, Lal ded, M.A Road, Maisuma, Kara nagar, Batamaloo,
Residency road, Shaheed Gunj road, Parimpora Bus stand Shaltang.
Senior Superintendent of Traffic PoliceSrinagar, Al –Tahir Geelani told Kashmir Reader that the roadside parking have beenbanned in the city.
“If anyone parks their vehicles on the roadside, they will be fined as per the court directions,” he said.
