SHOPIAN: To stop sliding of snow from roof tops that endangering live of people and impedes traffic flow in Shopian Town, authorities have asked owners to immediately install snow stoppers on their houses and buildings.
The administration has also ordered a drive to lift the accumulated snow out of the town that after public was facing immense problems due to traffic jams and narrow roads.
None of the roofs in Shopian have installed a snow stopper, that leads to mounds of snow on the roads. The lack of stoppers according to locals not only risks the lives of people but results in major inconveniences because the accumulated snow coming from roofs impedes traffic flow.
Locals said that, removal of piled snow along the road edges will come as big relief for the town commuters.
Deputy commissioner Shopian, Choudary Mohammad Yasin told Kashmir Reader that his administration has directed the officials to make sure installations of snow stoppers on all side shops and other structures situated near the roads on town.
He added that Rs 4 lakh has been spent on snow lifting from the town and we try all the possible ways to provide relief to general public.
