Pampore residents accuse PDD of negligence

PAMPORE: The Pampore residents in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have accused Power Development Department (PDD) of negligence over malfunctioning of receiving station “due to which the area is reeling under darkness.
They told Kashmir Reader that one of the two transformers, of 6.3 capacity, was damaged due to negligence of officials of PDD.
A senior citizen and member of civil society Pampore, Malik Mohammad Yusuf said that cables at receiving station located at Tanchibagh area were affected by great deluge in 2014.
“They were not repaired and resulted in their decomposition and melted away causing short circuit. This damaged a transformer of 6.3 megawatt on last Saturday,” he said, adding that the damage aggravated the sufferings of
residents who were already subjected to unscheduled power cuts.
The aggrieved residents appealed district administration to repair the transformer on priority basis so that the people of the area do not suffer any further.
Incharge receiving station PDD Pampore, Abdul Rahman said that the transformer developed a minor fault, and assured that it will be soon repaired.
