GST relaxation to Kashmir traders

SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday allowed traders based in Kashmir to receive consignments without generating E-way bill, which is mandatory for movement of goods within India.
The relaxation is a relief to thousands of traders who were prevented from receiving goods after they failed to submit their GST due to internet shutdown in the Valley. Internet shutdown since August 5 had prevented them
from generating E-way bill in absence of which goods cannot be ferried as per the law.
“This office is considering the request from the tax payers for unblocking their e-way bill generation as the connectivity related issues are still faced by them,” said the order undersigned by the Commissioner Tax PK Bhat.
He directed the concerned officers to unblock their eWay bill generation till further orders.
Though the government provided internet service at designated offices to facilitate filers but the facility was insufficient in the face of huge rush.
