Disengaged contractual teaches seek continuation of services

SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir Contractual Teachers Association on Monday held a protest demonstration here demanding continuation of their services.
These teachers are upset after contractual teachers engaged by government in 2018 and were asked to continue as same for year 2019, however were disengaged from the services in May this year ending their contract. .
The protesters who assembled at Press enclave here said that the previous administration had already assured of continuation their services, but the promise has not been fulfilled so far.
Adil Gulzar, one of the contractual teachers said we are highly qualified degree holders like PhD, M.Phil, M.Ed and post graduation.
Adding that some of teachers are on their verge to become overage and the notification ended their hopes of serving the education department.
“We have served the education department for one and half year and later were disengaged mid session. We were working on a merger salary of Rs 4,500,’ he said.
The protesters said that on one hand the government is claiming that they are improving the employments opportunity for the youth, but such moves of disengaging highly qualified teaches is contrary to such claims.
The protesting contractual teachers appealed Lt Governor and his advisor to take serious note of their grievances and immediately issue order of continuation for the contractual teachers hired in 2018.
