Avalanche hits army patrol in Siachen, 2 soldiers killed

Srinagar: At least two army soldiers died after they came under a snow avalanche in Siachen Glacier on Saturday.
Despite the rescue operations, two army personnel succumbed in the avalanche, said an army spokesperson in a statement.
It said that an army patrol operating at 18000 feet in southern Siachen Glacier was hit by an avalanche in the morning.
It said that the rescue team was immediately pressed into service to locate and pull out all the soldiers of the patrolling party. Also, the army pressed into service its helicopters to trace the missing troopers, it added.
