JKBOSE yet to fill vacancies a year after inviting applications

SRINAGAR: Nearly a year after advertisement, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has failed to fill 84 Junior Assistant posts putting thousands of job aspirants in a quandary.
The posts- 32 in open merit category and 12, 10, 13, 3, 11, 1 and 2 respectively in RBA, SC, ST, ALC, ex-servicemen, Social caste and Physically Handicapped (PHC) categories- were advertised by the board in January this year.
The selection process was to be completed in two stages: written test of 50 marks weightage and type test on computer keyboard carrying 30 marks. Besides, the qualifying degree of graduation also carried 20 marks to be awarded to the candidates on pro rata basis.
However, almost a year down the line, the board has failed to hold even the written test to start with raising concern among the aggrieved job aspirants.
The agitated aspirants resented the JKBOSE’s “lackadaisical” approach towards completing the recruitment process.
With the board yet to conduct the screening test in the last one year, the aspirants wondered over the fate of the final selection.
They asked the board officials to conduct the written test without any further delay and bring out the final selection list as soon as possible.
Secretary JKBOSE, Riyaz Ahmad said that they will complete the recruitment process in “due course of time”.
Ahmad further said the recent lockdown in Kashmir over the abrogation of Article 370 had also disrupted the recruitment process.
The JKBOSE Secretary ruled out speculations by some board officials that the advertisement notification had been put “in abeyance” for now.
“As such there is no such order. It is in process,” he said.
Pertinently, the board had fixed graduation or its equivalent degree as the eligibility qualification for the Junior Assistant posts with minimum 50 percent marks for General Category and 45 percent for reserved categories.
As per the advertisement notification, candidates, who qualify the written test with minimum fifty percent marks, shall be called for type test on Computer keyboard wherein they will have to register a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute for which they will be awarded 10 marks.
For additional speed, the candidates will be given weightage on pro rate basis.
