Bhat not allowed to attend last rites of relative, says family

Srinagar: The government has denied the parole request of senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat, who is under detention at Srinagar’s MLA Hostel.
Bhat alongside dozens of politicians are under detention since August 5 when the government of India abrogated Article 370. Currently, these political leaders are being held at MLA Hostel, which has been turned into a sub-
jail, after they were shifted from SKICC.
According to the family of PDP leader, he appealed the government to release him on parole so that he could attend the last rites of his father-in-law. However, the authorities denied his plea for unknown reasons, they said.
“Bhat wanted to attend the last rites of his father-in-law who expired on Friday. So, he appealed the government to release him on parole. But it denied the request for unknown reasons,” his nephew Ejaz-ul-Haq told Kashmir
