4 teachers ‘mistakenly’ suspended for poor results yet to be reinstated

SRINAGAR: Four government teachers whose names ‘mistakenly’ figured in list of suspended teachers for abysmal Board results last year are yet to be reinstated by the school education department, Kashmir.
The department had ordered suspension of the teachers registering zero percent results in their subjects in class 10 and 12 annual board exams while as increments of the teachers recording below 20 percent results were also
withheld. Above 100 teachers were suspended and the increment of 220 was withheld, an official said.
However, according to an official source, at least four teachers from south Kashmir’s Anantnag district despite registering satisfactory results were “erroneously” suspended due to official negligence.
Two among them told Kashmir Reader that the department by withholding their salary had brought them “on the brink of starvation” even though they had registered satisfactory results in the board exams.
“I have recorded around 75 percent results in my subject still I have been erroneously suspended by officials,” one of the aggrieved teachers said.
He said that one of his fellow teachers, who figures in the list of suspended teachers “is not even a subject-specific teacher at all”.
Despite visiting the directorate of school education department several times, authorities were yet to reinstate them, the duo said.
Not alone them but the rest too are complaining about delay in being reinstated despite showing improvement in their subjects in the bi-annual exams.
An official at the school education department said that only 11 suspended teachers in Srinagar were reinstated while fate of the majority of them still hangs in air.
Repeated attempts to contact Director School Education Kashmir, Dr Mohammad Younis Malik could not materialise.
