Srinagar: Authorities on Saturday seized 11 mobile phones from MLA Hostel-turned-sub-jail, where 33 political leaders are detained since last Sunday, sources told KNS
They said security personnel searched the rooms of the detained politicians after reports that they were using mobile phones inside their rooms. During the searches 11 mobile phones were seized, they said.
A senior official said that according to jail manual use of mobile phones inside the MLA Hostel is prohibited and action under law will be taken against the violators.
On Sunday when these leaders were shifted from Centaur Hotel to MLA Hostel, some of the politicians had objected to frisking by policemen on duty as they were hiding mobile phones, he added.
