MeT predicts more rains in next 24 hours

SRINAGAR: Rains lashed plains while upper reaches in Kashmir Valley received a fresh spell of snow on Thursday. However, the 300 km long Srinagar-Jammu highway was through for traffic.
According to weatherman Sonam Lotus, Gulmarg received snow while elsewhere rains lashed the Valley. He predicted light to moderate rain and snowfall across Kashmir in next 24 hours.
According to him, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall in plain areas and moderate to heavy snowfall in the hilly areas in Kashmir.
“The weather condition will be improve from November 23,” he said.
Lotus stated that the prevalent weather conditions will led to the further dip in the temperature. According to the forecast, the day temperature will go down by some degrees while as the night temperature will also dip he added.
Superintendent of Police Traffic (Rural Kashmir) Muzaffar Ahmad Shah told Kashmir Reader that traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway is plying normally amid rains.
He said that vehicles will be allowed to proceed from Jammu to Srinagar on Friday. However, no traffic will be allowed from Srinagar, Shah added.
The highway remained closed for almost a week recently following November 7 snow and rains which triggered landslides blocking the road for several days.
