JK Bank aspirants rue delay in selection list

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Bank has put career of thousands of job aspirants at stake as it has withheld selection list of some 1400 Probationary Officers (PO) and Banking Associates (BA) posts advertised over a year ago.
The bank had, in October last year, advertised 250 and 1200 vacancies of PO and BA posts, respectively.
While the recruitment for POs was to be completed in three stages comprising preliminary, mains and interview, the selection list of the BA posts was to be notified on the basis of only prelims exam.
Seven months since prelims and mains for the posts were conducted, the bank has failed to come up with the selection list.
The aggrieved aspirants ridiculed this “sluggish” pace and blamed the bank administration for putting the career of thousands of them at stake even as they had been counting on the posts for more than a year now.
“It has been over a year, but they have yet to conduct the interview for the PO posts. You can imagine when the selection list comes out! The selection list of the Banking Associate posts was supposed to be issued on the basis of only the written test, but they have failed to publish even that,” said an aggrieved candidate.
They said the selection list of similar posts, whose examination was conducted by other recruiting agencies much later than J&K Bank, had already been issued.
Over one lakh aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir had applied for the posts.
Vice President JK Bank, Nisar Ahmad Zargar said he had “no idea” when the selection list would be issued.
He asked this reporter to contact the bank’s chairman over the matter. However, he was not available for comment.
