Heaps of snow on sidewalk in Srinagar causing inconvenience to commuters

SRINAGAR: A heaps of snow along the sidewalks at various locations in Srinagar city is causing inconvenience to the commuters, who say it is difficult to walk and may result in injury.
Deeba Jan, a college student, said that it has become very difficult to walk on the sidewalks due to heaps of snow.
“The snow from Batamaloo to Jahangeer Chowk sidewalk poses a great threat to the people. Sometimes people lose their balance and might result in injury,” said Azhar Shaheen, a local.
Incharge of Mechanical Engineering department of central Kashmiris districts, Abdul Rashid Bhat told Kashmir Reader that the department has cleared 1250 kilometres of snow in Srinagar that comes under the department.
“The people are parking their vehicles at the wrong sides of the roads, and street vendors are occupying the footpaths during the day time. It becomes impossible for us to clear piled snow during the day time. We are clearing the piled snow during the night time from the roadsides,” he said.
Said Sami Arif, chief engineer of Roads and buildings department, said, “We have already cleared the snow in city areas. We have also cleared the snow from the hospitals, main markets and sidewalks.”
