Live shells left over from cross-LoC fire in Uri

Baramulla: Frequent exchange of fire across the Line of Control has resulted in accumulation of live ammunition in Kamalkote area with residents demanding safe disposal.
According to local residents, three big shells were lying outside the Jamia Masjid and Ward 6 in the area after the last nights firing.
Haji Musadiq Hussain, a resident, told Kashmir Reader that one of the live shells was lying just 50 meters from the Jamia Masjid while two more lie in vicinity of Ward 6 residential area.
He said that Army personnel had visited the site and the locals asked them about their disposal in such a manner that both the mosque and the residential area is saved.
The locals said the live shells have added to threat in the area and asked the local administration to maintain well being of the residents.
Police officials in Uri said that they have not received information about the live ammunition lying in vicinity of human habitation.
“Once we get any information we will initiate process for their safe disposal,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the residents also sought an end to cross LoC skirmishes besides proper bunkers for safety of the local residents.
