45,000 students appear in class 12 exams

Srinagar: Amid a complete shutdown in the Valley, more than 45,000 students appeared in the first paper of class 12 annual examinations on Wednesday, officials said.
Joint Secretary, Examinations, J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE), Syed Abdul Rouf, told Kashmir Reader that that 45, 318 students from Kashmir valley excluding Keran, Machil and Tangdar areas of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, appeared in the opening General English paper while some 295 candidates remained absent.
Around 48,000 students had registered for the class 12 annual board examination, he informed.
The attendance of students in the examination was a nearly 99.3 percent, while the Board, as per an official, was yet to receive the percentage of student attendance from the frontier areas of Keran, Machil and Tangdhar.
The JKBOSE had established 433 centres for the examinations across Kashmir.
