Anantnag: A truck driver was killed by suspected militants on Monday evening in south Kashmir’s Anantnag.
A police spokesperson said that militants fired on a civilian at Kanelwan area of Bijbhera.
Police sources identified the killed driver as Narayan Dutt of Katra. The incident occurred around 8pm.
Since October 14, five non-locals including four truckers were killed in south Kashmir’s twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian. Their killing has triggered panic and prompted the government to set up ‘safe zones’ where from apples are transported in trucks under the watch of government forces.
