ETT lab in Zakura to boost lamb production

SRINAGAR: Embryo Transfer Technology (ETT) Lab in Zakura will boost lamb production from 1-3 lambs per year to 50.
Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep and Fisheries Department, Asghar Hassan SamoonSaturday inaugurated ETTLab here. He directed for deployment of additional staff with expertise in required field in
the laboratory.
Director Sheep Husbandry Kashmir, Abdul Salam Mir was also present on the occasion.He said that Lab will help in creation of repository of elite germoplasm besides production of disease resistant
animals.
Samoonalso visited Frozen Semen Laboratory RanbirbaghGanderbal and took stock of facilities there
He stressed on production of world class Germplasm for Artificial Insemination (AI) and Embryos for genetic up-gradation and transformation of livestock wealth with the aim of enhancing their
productivity and production.
He also asked the officials to produce most fertile germplasm for increasing conception rate besides harvesting, processing and supplying quality and pathogen free germplasm to all AI centers.
Samoon directed the officials to observe strict regimen for good hygienic practices and HACCP guidelines for production of superior quality germplasm.
