Soldier killed in cross-LoC firing in Rajouri

Jammu: An Army personnel was killed on Tuesday in Pakistani firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district while as two civilians were injured in Poonch district, officials said.
The soldier manning a forward post was fatally injured in the Pakistani firing and shelling in the Kalal area of Nowshera sector Tuesday evening, the officials said.
They said Indian Army personnel fired in retaliation and the cross-border shelling between the two sides was going on when last reports came in.
In Rajouri district, two civilians were injured in the Pakistani shelling, officials said.
The mortar shelling from across the border started in Balakote area of Mendhar sector around 1.20 pm, prompting retaliation by Indian Army, the officials said.
People in the shelling hit villages rushed to the safety of their homes and underground bunkers, while the children in some schools falling within the range are being taken to safety, the officials said. PTI
