Internet at DC office not solving students’ woes

SRINAGAR: The students filling online scholarship forms at DC office here say that they are unable to register due to mobile services blackout and cannot get one time password (OTP) on their phones to compete the process.
Last month, Social Welfare department has invited online application from students belonging to the minority communities notified by the central government.
For pre matric scholarship, submission of online applications ends on October 15, while as for post matric scholarship and merit cum mean based scholarship, last date is October 31.
“We are thankful to the authorities for providing us internet facility. But we are unable to submit our post matric scholarship forms because of OTP, which is sent to phone,” said a group of students.
The parents accompanying the students at DC office Srinagar told Kashmir Reader that they are unable to understand what to do in this situation.
“We only request to the authority to either restore the mobile services or omit the mobile number option in the forms so that the students can submit the application without facing any problem,” said Abdhul Hamid, a parent.
The official at Social Welfare department told Kashmir Reader that they too are helpless.
“Without OTP, students cannot submit the form. The administration should extend the last date of submitting the forms or restore the mobile connectivity,” he said.
