Day 67: Normal life remains affected in Kashmir

Srinagar: Normal life remained affected on 67th day in Kashmir with shops and business establishments closed, even as traffic jams were witnessed at several spots in the city.
While public transport remained off the roads, private vehicles plied in good numbers, leading to traffic jams at several intersections in Srinagar.
Barriers on roads set up by government forces also led to traffic clogs at several spots.
Even as restrictions have been lifted from most areas in Kashmir, government forces remain deployed on streets, setting up barriers at many places.
Students continued to give schools and colleges a miss for safety reasons, even as staff reported to institutions.
Mobile phones and internet continued to remain suspended for the 67th straight day. The services were suspended in the night of August 5.
The landline telephone services have been restored in the valley but customers complained of erratic services.
The Baramulla-Banihal train service also remained suspended for 67th consecutive day on Thursday.
