Jamia Millia extends admission date for Kashmir students to Oct 10

Srinagar: The Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi has extended the last date for admission formalities for students from Kashmir to October 10.
The relaxation has been granted in view of communications blockade in Kashmir to students who have qualified the entrance exams, but could not contact the University authorities and complete admission formalities by stipulated time.
Several students from Kashmir had secured admissions in the varsity for coming session, but due to communication blockade since August 5 remained clueless about the results.
Several students at the varsity hailing from Kashmir had appraised authorities about the prevailing situation in Kashmir and inability of candidates to check the results online in absence of internet and mobile phone services.
“People have no internet access because of which these students have not seen their results on time, so they could not complete admission formalities in time,” Arif Ahmad, a Kashmiri student studying in Jamia said.
A letter was sent on Monday by the JMI registrar to Resident Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir informing extension of the admission deadline to October 10.
“It was effort to reach out to those students, who have not seen their results due to communication blockade in Kashmir,” Ahmad said, adding, the affected students of Kashmir can submit the applications to the office of the Resident Commissioner, J&K till 10 October, 2019, who will act as Nodal Office to collect all the applications of such candidates to secure the admission.
