Srinagar: Police this morning said that on Wednesday night in North Kashmir’s Hajin area of Bandipora, militants believed to be affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba barged into the house of Abdul Gaffar Bhat son of Muhammad Subhan Bhat forcefully and started to beat the inmates.

A spokesman of police said that the militants abducted Abdul Gaffar and his son Manzoor Ahmed Bhat. However, Abdul Gaffar was successful in escaping from them inspite of being fired upon, and sustaining injuries.

“Abdul Gaffar has been hospitalised where he is being treated, but his son Manzoor is still with the militants” the police official said.

“A massive manhunt to trace the abducted person has been launched”, he said while adding that a case into the matter under relevant sections of law has also been registered and investigation taken up.
