Situation in Kashmir fast improving but radicalisation is up: BJP

Jammu: The BJP today said the security situation in Kashmir was fast improving but the trend of ‘radicalisation’ continued to be the main challenge in the Valley.

The BJP condemned all militant attacks on party workers in Kashmir and said such attacks only strengthen the resolve of party.

“The situation in Kashmir is fast improving. The appointment of a representative of the central government for sustained dialogue with all the genuine stakeholders in the state has been welcomed by a vast majority of the people,” the party said in its resolution.

The resolution was passed during its working committee meeting held at the border belt of Suchetgarh in Jammu district last week.

“Growing radicalisation continues to be the main challenge,” the resolution said. The BJP further said the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces and the JKP have worked in synergy to break the backbone of ‘Pakistan-sponsored’ militancy in the state.

“The role of the NIA in countering and exposing the overground terror support network is praiseworthy,” it added.

The party said Pakistan was trying to escalate tensions along the borders with ‘unprovoked firing’.

“Attempt by Pakistan to escalate aggression along the borders by unprovoked firing has met with befitting response from our brave soldiers. Borders are alive with firing but our brothers and sisters living on borders are in high spirits and are standing with Army in this fight with aggressor”, it said.

The resolution further said that part believes in living with dignified peace but not in silence at the face of aggression.

The working committee appreciated the central government’s sanctioning of Rs 450 crore for construction of 14,000 bunkers for border residents.

The committee showed serious concerns on the systematic illegal settlement of Rohangiyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu and recommended the formation of a commission under a sitting high court judge to inquire into the circumstances leading to this.(PTI)
