Militants kill man in Hajin, injure three family members

Hajin: Suspected militants on Tuesday abducted and killed a man and injured mother-daughter duo in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said.

Officials said that the gunmen barged inside the house of Farooq Ahmad Parray in Parr Mohalla of Hajin and fired indiscriminately besides attacking inmates with knives, resulting in injuries to his wife Rafeeqa Begum and daughter Neelofar and son Hilal Ahmad Parray.

“Rafeeqa has sustained firearm injury besides other serious injuries caused by a sharp weapon. Others have injuries due to an assault using a sharp weapon,” a police spokesman said, adding that the injured have been shifted to hospital.

Police said that at about 10:10 PM, four militants who are affiliated with LeT, barged into the house of Farooq Ahmad Parrey and “without caring about the life and dignity of the inmates, fired indiscriminately inside the house”.

“The (militants) used the knives that they were carrying and caused grievous injuries to wife, daughter and brother of Farooq. Police identified the injured as Rafeeqa, Neelofar and Hilal Ahmad Parrey. They also abducted Muntazir Ahmad Parrey (the son in law of Farooq) from there,” the spokesman said.

Later, police said that the dead body of an abducted person Muntazir Ahmad Parrey was found on the outskirts of Hajin.

During investigation, it has come to notice that local militant Mohammad Saleem Parrey has played a major role in the killing of innocent civilian.

“Five foreign militants affiliated with LeT, Abu Muslim, Hubaib, Khalid, Abu Hamza and Haider are also involved in the killing,” police said.
