Another militant killed in Shopian, two encounters raging as three soldiers injured
Srinagar: Two militants were killed and another was “apprehended” alive in an overnight gunfight at Dialgam village of Anantnag and Dragad Shopian in South Kashmir, while as three soldiers were injured in seperate encounters in Shopian.
SSP Anantnag Altaf Khan said that a joint team of police, army’s 19 and CRPF launched a cordon at Brunty Dialgam village during the intervening night of March 31/ April 1.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire and triggering off an encounter, SSP said.
“One militant Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed and another militant Imran Rashid has been captured alive during the operation,” SSP said.
Rouf Ahmad Khanday Son of Bashir Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Dehruna village of Dooru Anantnag had announced his joining Hizb ul Mujahideen and his photographs wielding Ak 47 went viral in last week of March. The photograph had his code name Umar Hayat and joining “active date” 4/02/2018.
The picture also depicted that he was a graduate (B.A) and 15 chapters (Paras) of Quran ‘Hafiz’.
Official sources said that Imran surrendered amid the operation.
Meanwhile, two separate encounters are going on in Shopian district and three soldiers were injured.
Official sources said that two encounters started late last night at Dragad village and Kachdora. Army’s 44 RR, 3 RR, 34 RR, SOG, and CRPF are part of the operation at both the places.
A defence spokesman said that one militant has been killed in Dragad encounter while as the operation still continues.
Two soldiers were injured at Kachdora while another was injured at Dragad. All of them have been evacuated to military hospital.
