Militants flee after brief exchange of fire in Pulwama

Srinagar: Militants escaped after a brief exchange of gunfire with government forces in Litter area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday, police sources said. The brief exchange of fire took place after forces cordoned off the area.

They said that at around 3 am in the morning suspected militants fired some gunshots, which continued for about 15 minutes. The forces immediately swung into action and cordoned off the whole area.

They added that cordon and search operation continued for about 4 hours and later it ended peacefully.

A police official while confirming the exchange of fire between militants and government forces in the area said that militants managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
