Srinagar: As the protests in Kashmir University refuse to die down for the fourth consecutive day against the sudden ‘disappearance’ of a student, the Vice Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi today impressed upon the state authorities to proactively help trace the student’s whereabouts.

In a statement issued here, the Varsity spokesman said that consequent upon continuing student protests over a student of the Earth Sciences Department who is reported missing after leaving from his residence in Pulwama, the Vice Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi today again talked to the agitating students and reiterated that the University was equally concerned about the matter.

“The Vice Chancellor once again urged the students to maintain clam and assured that the University is regularly in touch with the police authorities to ascertain the student’s whereabouts” the spokesman said. 

“When any clue about the student is obtained, the same shall be shared “, the Vice Chancellor said  while assuring the students.

The University reiterated its appeal to the agitating students to maintain peaceful atmosphere on the campus.

Pertinently, a student of applied Geology, Department of earth sciences, Sameer Ahmad has gone missing since the past many days now. The student who is a resident of Kakapora, Gandhi Bagh, Pulwama went missing from 19th of March. He had left his home and was headed for the University.
