Kreeri shuts on fourth straight day to mourn killing of local militant

Baramulla: A complete shutdown is being observed in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday to mourn the killing of a local militant.

All shops and other business establishments are closed in the area, while traffic movement is also thin in the area.

Minor stone pelting was also reported in the area.

“Minor stone pelting was reported in the area since morning after some youth tried to affect peaceful environment” , a Police official said.

Meanwhile, police and paramilitary CRPF men have deployed in strength in the entire area as a precautionary measures to foil any attempts of protests.

Pertinently, the area has been witnessing a complete shutdown for the last three days following the killing of an LeT militant Shafat Hussain Wani in a brief shootout on Saturday night at Arizal village in Budgam Beerwah.
