20 animals charred to death, four houses gutted in Uri blaze  

Baramulla: At least twenty animals were charred to death while four residential houses were completely damaged in a devastating fire incident in Lachhipora area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police sources said Tuesday.

Sources said that the fire started at around 10 am in the morning from a house in the locality, which engulfed three other nearby residential houses.

Locals, police and Army rushed to the spot and tried to douse the flames, they said.

Eyewitnesses said that at least 20 livestock were charred to death in the blaze.

Pertinently, the nearest fire service station is around 45 kilometers away from the area, located in the main town Uri.

Meanwhile, the fire affected families appealed the authorities to provide relief to them so that they could reconstruct their houses.

The locals also hailed the efforts of Army and local youth in saving human lives in the incident.

The houses which were completely damaged belonged to Ghulam Mohammad Mughal, Haji Mohammad Abdullah, Mohammad Din Mughal, and Ghulam Mohammad Mughal.
