Implement J&K Education Roadmap in letter and spirit: Secy Edu to officers

Jammu: In a bid to strengthen the Education sector, Secretary Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah Friday directed all the concerned officials to implement “J&K Education Roadmap” in the State in letter and spirit.

Addressing a meeting of State Steering Committee of J&K Education Roadmap at Directorate of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Jammu, Shah said that the implementation “J&K Education Roadmap” will help in the strengthening of the Education sector in the State.

During the meeting, several issues were discussed which include reforming DIETs, Human Resource Management, Remedial teaching, learning enhancement, Vocational Education, Mid-Day Meal scheme, establishment of special schools for Children with Special Needs etc.

During the meeting, different committees were constituted to study Karnataka Model for Human Resource Management and Rajasthan Model for Integrated Data Management Information System.

Detailed discussions were held over the outcomes of National Achievement Survey 2017 and the need to improve learning levels of students. Both the SIEs of the State were instructed to prepare plan for enhancing the learning levels as per the need shown in the Assessment Survey, the official statement issued here said.

During the meeting, Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G N Itoo briefed about the implementation of “J&K Education Roadmap” in Kashmir Division.

He appraised Secretary Education about the works going on to strengthen the basic infrastructure in the schools in the Valley.

Secretary Education gave some necessary directions to Director School Education Kashmir and Jammu to strengthen the basic infrastructure in the schools.

The meeting was also attended by Chairperson JKBOSE VeenaPandita, Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo, Director School Education Jammu Rakesh Kumar, State Project Director RMSA TufailMattoo, State Project Director SSA Abdul Rashid War and other officers.

Meanwhile, talking to media persons on the sidelines of the meeting, Secretary Education said that “we will make every possible effort to implement the roadmap for 3 years.”

He said that “Education is the foundation of a strong nation and the future of our students lies in the hands of the teachers.”

Shah added that efforts to strengthen the Education sector in the State are on, which is reflected by the budget 2018.

Secretary Education said that Chief Minister and the Minister for Finance and Education are trying hard to strengthen the Education sector in the State and as per their directions year 2018 is being celebrated as year of Infrastructure development in Education sector and in this regard efforts are being made at every level.
