Minister reviews de-silting process on Zamindar Khuls

Jammu: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today chaired a joint meeting of officers of Agriculture, Rural Development and Irrigation & Flood Control departments to review the progress of de-silting of Zamindar Khuls and creation of other irrigation assets in convergence with these departments here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Irrigation Jammu, Director Command Area Development Jammu, Director Agriculture Jammu, Deputy Director Rural Development Department and senior officers of Power Development Department and other departments.   

During the meeting a threadbare discussion was held on various works undertaken by different departments in various districts of Jammu.It was informed that Rural Development Department has executed about 710 irrigation related works during the year 2017-18 costing Rs 6.87 crore. “Out of these works, 191 are de-silting that are mostly in Jammu Samba and Samba districts”.    

The Minister directed the officers to take these works for execution and complete them before the onset of next irrigation season. Hanjura directed the officers to identify irrigation works related to flood control under convergence and take them up for execution on priority.

Hanjura also directed them to exchange the lists of works executed by the departments to ensure transparency and also asked them to conduct joint field visits to ensure quality of assets to be created.

Agriculture Minister also directed the officers of Rural Development Department, Irrigation and Flood Control, Agriculture and other departments to maintain close co-ordination and deputy development commissioner have been asked to monitor the co-ordination of these departments.
