Srinagar: Calling for Shopian chalo on Wednesday, Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Monday said that the Shopian massacre by the forces has once again demonstrated the ‘brutal face of Indian democracy’ in Kashmir.
JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement issued here called for Shopian Chalo on Wednesday (Mar 07) to participate in a congregational prayers meeting for Shopian martyrs.
JRL leaders said that already a protest strike call has been given for the same day against shifting of Kashmiri inmates especially those facing life sentences and under-trials from Srinagar Central jail to Jammu jails.
JRL leaders and activists and constituents along with people will march towards Shopian to pay homage to innocent martyrs. The trio also appealed people to observe complete shutdown on Mar 07 in support of Kashmiri Prisoners as announced earlier
Terming yesterday’s massacre at Shopian in which six Kashmiris were killed as ‘another example of brutal Indian aggression’, JRL said that “Indian trigger happy forces and police are deployed to kill Kashmiris and pro-India politicians and political parties especially RSS backed Mehbooba regime is deployed to provide a legal cover to these killers.”
JRL leaders said that pro-India politicians and rulers are directly responsible for these massacres and will have to answer for their crimes in accordance with the law of retribution.
They said that Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house where the lives of young and old, men, women and children are target of Indian bullets. “Though this genocide is going on from last many decades but the way Indian soldiers at the behest of their political masters have expedited this killing spree has turned the situation seriously horrible,” said JRL.
Terming the statements of pro-India rulers and politicians and announcements of probes as ‘mere eye wash’, JRL said that the staying of the probe against the army major openly involved in killing of three civilians in Shopian by the Supreme Court of India, despite an FIR being lodged against him in name by the police, is a travesty of justice.
“Not that people of Kashmir from their experience have any hope of justice being delivered to the civilians mostly youth, killed in cold blood by armed forces. What is more shocking and deceitful in this case is that the counsel for J&K government told the court that the name of the accused major, Aditya Kumar, does not feature in the FIR, while they all along were beating the drum that the accused in the case has been identified and named and definitely justice will be done,” they said.
