Shopian killings: UJC terms it ‘cowardice, frustration’ of forces

Srinagar: United Jihad Council (UJC), a conglomerate of various militant organisations of Kashmir, on Monday termed the killing of civilians in Shopian as “cowardice and frustration” of Indian forces.

UJC secretary general and Ameer Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen Sheikh Jameel-ul-Rehman in a statement issued to a local news agency said to term the civilian killings as cross-firing is ‘shameful’ and condemnable.

In a meeting held on Monday, Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman said, “India is scared over the participation of youth particularly from south Kashmir, with mujahideen. New Delhi is frustrated by the resilience of Kashmiri people which has demoralized Indian forces who in order to hide their failures are taking revenge from common people by killing them.”

“Now again, in Shopian, Indian forces exhibited the worst example of state terrorism. The Jihad Council and Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen salute the valour of mujahideen,” Sheikh Jameel said.

He payed glorious tributes to slain Suhail Khaleel Wagay (Pinjoora), Muhammad Shahid Khan (Malik Gund), Shahnawaz Ahmad Wagay, Gowhar Ahmad Lone, Amir Ahmad Malik (Harmain) and Aashiq Hussain and said: “their sacrifice will not be allowed go waste”.

“We are indebted to the sacrifices of martyrs and will never surrender before India,” he said. (GNS)
