Jammu:  A 58-year-old woman pilgrim died of cardiac arrest after paying obeisance at the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police official said today.

Ramakashi Devi, a resident of Rampur in Bihar, complained of chest pain and uneasiness late last night and was taken to a dispensary near the shrine by her family members, he said.

After initial treatment, she was referred to the community health centre in Katra – the base camp for pilgrims headed to the shrine – but was declared brought dead by doctors there, the official said.

The body will be handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities today, the official said. (PTI)
