Appointments under RMSA: Govt pushes ‘joining’ of selected candidates to avoid scrutiny

Srinagar: Amid the allegations over fraudulent selection of teachers under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scheme, the department is facilitating hasty joining of these teachers to avoid any interference of judiciary.

The move has enraged the dejected candidates who later accused authorities of shielding officials involved in the fraudulent selection.

Pertinently, selection of 550 subject specific teachers recruited under RMSA scheme in school education department has come under question after the rejected lot complained of tampering in the merit list.

“The selection process has been made through fraudulent means but the government is yet to initiate any probe in it,” a group of aggrieved candidates said.

They said government should initiate action against the officials involved in tampering the merit list which was done to accommodate ‘blue eyed’ candidates.

“Those having more points are dropped while as candidates with low merit have managed their names in the list of selected candidates,” they said.

Pertinently, the JK high Court has already stayed selection of a teacher under RMSA after an aggrieved candidate claimed higher merit than the candidate selected for the post in Srinagar district.

However, officials said the department was making efforts to make the selected candidates join their schools in order to avoid any interference by the judiciary.

“The department is trying its best to make these teachers join their place of posting as any delay on this part may result in further interference of High Court as one selection has already been challenged,” the official said.

He said immediate joining of teachers may help the government to hush up the case as well.

Questioning the selection of candidate in English subject in Shopian, the candidates said officials associated with conduct of exams and compilation of selection list have managed to accommodate candidates having political patronage.

“The result is doubtful and should be probed by an independent agency so that meritorious candidates get justice,” they said.

Meanwhile, if sources are to be believed the government had hired LME&S private limited for holding written exams for RMSA teachers’.  The same agency was hired to conduct written exams in Khadi Village Industries Board (KVIB) the selection list of which has already been questioned.

“The agency was selected by government out of three agencies recommended by JKBOSE. Later, the agency was hired for holding written test of candidates for RMSA exams,” a top official said.
