Anantnag: Residents of Sheikhpora Zamalgam Dooru on Wednesday staged protest against Public health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to provide potable water to them.
The protesters including men, women and children blocked Dooru Verinag road for hours, resulting in traffic mess.
The residents said that they are getting drinking water from last many months.
Taja Banoo, a protester said that “we approached Assistant Executive Engineers Office in Verinag many times for our grievance but unfortunately, we were ignored.”
They said that they were forced to hit streets against the department as they are being deprived of proper drinking water supply.
Meanwhile, Tehsildar Verinag assured that the water supply will be restored soon in the village following which the protesters dispersed peacefully.
