Hamzapora village sans water supply

Anantnag: Barely two kilometers away from Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s residence, Hamzapora village in Bijbehara area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district is lacking water supply, causing hardships to the villagers.

The village, situated on national highway is facing acute shortage of drinking water while the authorities have failed to take any step to provide with potable water.

The local residents said that they are without drinking water as no official from PHE department has visited their village so far, forcing them to consume filthy water of river Jehlum.

They appealed to the concerned authorities to ensure proper and immediate water supply to the area so that the water woes faced by the people would come to an end.

The residents added that officials of PHE department have almost ignored their area.

They urged the PHE Minister to direct the concerned authorities to take steps to ensure water supply to the locality.

Executive Engineer PHE division Bijbehara, Bashir Ahmed Shah said that “we have drafted a proposal for new water supply scheme in the area.”

He assured that in the upcoming six months, the village would get water supply on regular basis.
