Casual labourer injured, shifted to SKIMS 

Baramulla: A casual labourer of forest department was critically injured while performing his dutiesafter he fell down in a forest compartment and rolled down into a deep gorge.

The labourer identified as Lateef Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Subhan Lone of Sheeri Mirher in Narwav Baramulla has sustaining multiple fractures and head injuries on Tuesday evening, an official said.

He is posted at forest compartment No 71/2nd S-Range of Jehlum Valley Division Baramulla, he added.

“Lateeef received severe injuries in his head and legs while performing his duty. He slipped and rolled down accidentally from his forest compartment and was hit by rocks,” witnesses who evacuated him to hospital along with a team of forest officials, said.

Family members said that doctors have performed a surgery on Lateef in SKIMS Srinagar, which lasted for three hours.

Later, he went into coma and is on ventilator at SKIMS hospital.

Meanwhile, Divisional Forest Officer Mir Waseem, Range Officer Baramulla, staff of Control Room and other staff members accompanied Lone to SKIMS.

The locals hailed DFO JV Division for taking every possible step to save the precious life of the employee working as casual labourer.
