Justice Ramalingam nominated Executive Chairman of JKSLSA

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government today nominated Justice Ramalingam as the Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) for a period of three years.

The judge was nominated in consultation with the chief justice of the high court, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed, an official spokesman said.

He said Ramalingam was nominated by exercising the powers conferred under section 3(2)(b) of the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authorities Act, 1997 and by superseding a government notification of 2014. The SLSA was constituted on February 18, 1998.

“The nomination shall be for a period of three years from the date of issuance of the notification,” the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said the government had conferred upon the Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes (Recovery), Srinagar, and the Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes (Recovery), Jammu, the powers of the Collector within their respective territorial jurisdiction for the recovery of GST arrears.
