Restrictions imposed in Srinagar to prevent separatist-called protests

Srinagar: Authorities on Saturday imposed strict restrictions in parts of Srinagar city to prevent a separatist-called protest.

Pertinently, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for protest shutdown against shifting of local detainees to jails outside, murder of a separatist activist by unidentified gunmen and deteriorating rights situation in Kashmir.

An associate of  Hurriyat(G) Muhammad Yousuf Rather alias Yousuf Nadeem was earlier this week shot dead in Budgam district. He was associated with Hurriyat (G).

All Shops, other businesses and public transport remained shut in the city and other district headquarters of the Kashmir Valley.

Train services between Bannihal town and Baramulla in the Valley were also suspended for the day.

Police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers in full riot gear have been deployed in areas placed under restrictions.
