Srinagar: A 45-year-old man was killed after he was fired upon by unknown gunmen in Charangam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday evening.
Police sources said that gunmen fired upon Mohammad Mohammad Yousf Rather at Charangam when he was sitting inside a passenger vehicle (Taveera).
A resident of Sanzipora, Beerwah, Budgam, Yousuf was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.
SSP Budgam, Tejender Singh confirmed the incident and said that the suspected militants opened fire upon the 45 year old man from the point blank range at around 4:55 pm.
Soon after the incident, army, SOG, and CRPF cordoned off the whole area and launched a hunt to nab the assailants.
